Kids Foraging Walk
Join us for a morning summer hike at Massapequa Park Preserve where families will learn how to slow down, look closely at plants, and notice the details that help identify them in the wild.
Along the trail, we’ll use our five senses; sight, smell, touch, and careful observation to explore local plants that can be used to add flavor to meals or soothe irritating bug bites.
Participants will learn the basics of safe and ethical foraging, including how to identify plants responsibly, how to harvest in a way that protects the ecosystem, and why it’s important to leave plenty behind for wildlife and future growth.
This family-friendly hike is perfect for curious kids and parents interested in learning more about the useful plants growing right in our local landscape.
